With all of the heat on New Jersey Governor Chris Christie this past week, the public seem to be maintaining their confidence in the possible presidential candidate. He was first scrutinized after emails surfaced from his office suggesting his team was responsible for a large traffic jam on the George Washington Bridge, which was meant to upset the Mayor of Fort Lee, NJ. Next was a federal investigation into how funds were handled for Superstorm Sandy. Despite everything, Christie is doing just fine.
According to the Pew Research Center poll, reports show that 60 percent of adults say their opinion of Christie has not changed since the political upset. Only 16 percent of of those surveyed say they now view the New Jersey governor less favorably and 6 percent say they now view him more favorably.
According to Politico.com, only 18 percent of those surveyed say they paid very close attention to the nearly two-hour long press conference on Jan. 9 in which Christie apologized for his aides’ actions. This would mean his apology didn’t make much of a difference in Christie’s approval ratings.
We’ll see what more challenges come in Christie’s path as we move closer to the 2016 presidential candidates announcement.
