Multi-platinum artist Tate McRae is stepping into the fragrance world with the launch of TATE 01, her first perfume created in partnership with Scent Beauty.
Designed as a modern “second-skin” fragrance, TATE 01 takes inspiration from McRae’s personal style and is meant to complement the wearer rather than overpower them.
Created with Givaudan master perfumers Adriana Medina and Antoine Maisondieu, the fragrance is anchored by ISO E Super, an ingredient known for interacting with individual skin chemistry. The result is a soft, woody scent that can develop differently from one wearer to another.
“In my beauty routine, fragrance is that final invisible layer that elevates my entire mood,” said McRae. “With TATE 01, I set out to craft a scent that feels entirely second-skin: effortless, subtly edgy, and perfectly you.”
TATE 01 opens with sparkling bergamot and airy clary sage, followed by a heart of luminous white florals. Warm amber, creamy tonka bean, sandalwood and soft woods round out the fragrance, creating a warm and sophisticated finish.
The bottle also reflects McRae’s contemporary aesthetic. Made from substantial glass, its design combines the familiar silhouette of a classic perfume bottle with softer curves and a more sculptural, modern feel.
For the fragrance’s global campaign, McRae teamed with renowned photographer Mario Sorrenti. Inspired by the supermodel imagery of the 1990s, the campaign was photographed against natural landscapes and plays with the contrast between softness and strength.
The launch marks the beginning of what Scent Beauty says will be a longer-term fragrance brand built around McRae.
TATE 01 is available at tatebytm.com in sizes ranging from 10ml to 100ml, priced from $30 to $82. The fragrance expands to Ulta Beauty online beginning October 16, followed by a nationwide in-store launch on October 25.
