Shailene Woodley is officially an Emmy winner.
Woodley took home her first Emmy Award on Sunday, September 6, winning Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Annie Clay in Hulu’s “Paradise.”
The victory came during Night Two of the 78th Emmy Awards Creative Arts ceremonies at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where awards were presented across drama, comedy, limited series, animation and numerous television crafts.
Woodley, previously Emmy nominated for her performance in HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” won for the “Paradise” Season 2 episode “Graceland.” Her victory marked a career first for the actress, whose television and film credits also include “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” “The Descendants,” “The Fault in Our Stars” and the “Divergent” films.
She wasn’t the only first-time acting winner of the evening. Ernest Harden Jr. won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Louie Cloverfield in HBO Max’s “The Pitt.”
“Widow’s Bay” emerged as the biggest winner of Night Two, collecting eight Emmys. Among its victories was Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for Betty Gilpin, along with awards for casting, cinematography, production design, music supervision, original dramatic score, sound editing and sound mixing.
“DTF: St. Louis” followed with six wins, including acting honors for David Harbour and Linda Cardellini in the limited or anthology series categories.
Julie Andrews added another Emmy to her legendary career, winning Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her work as Lady Whistledown on Netflix’s “Bridgerton.”
The Television Academy also presented its inaugural Legacy Award to “I Love Lucy,” recognizing the landmark comedy for its enduring influence on television and popular culture.
The weekend’s Creative Arts ceremonies will be combined into a special airing September 12 on FXX. The Emmy celebrations continue Monday, September 14, when Mariska Hargitay hosts the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards live from the Peacock Theater on NBC and Peacock.
