Nearly three decades after Wes Craven’s Scream forever changed the horror genre, fans will have the opportunity to celebrate the landmark film in unforgettable fashion. In partnership with Paramount Scares, Midsummer Scream is hosting an expansive weekend-long tribute to the film’s 30th anniversary during its annual convention, taking place August 7–9 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Widely regarded as the world’s largest Halloween and horror convention, Midsummer Scream will once again transform the venue into a destination for genre enthusiasts with hundreds of exhibitors, more than a dozen immersive haunted attractions inside the Hall of Shadows, and a packed schedule of panels, presentations, performances, and live entertainment spread across seven stages throughout the weekend.
At the heart of this year’s celebration is an unprecedented reunion of original Scream cast members. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich, David Arquette, and Jamie Kennedy, whose performances helped establish the beloved characters of Stu Macher, Billy Loomis, Dewey Riley, and Randy Meeks. Also appearing are Lee Waddell, who served as the film’s Ghostface stunt performer, Joseph Whipp, who portrayed Sheriff Burke, and additional special guests connected to the franchise. Throughout the weekend, attendees can participate in autograph signings, selfie opportunities, and professional photo sessions with the stars.
One of the convention’s most exclusive experiences will offer a rare chance to meet Roger L. Jackson, the unmistakable voice behind Ghostface. A limited number of fans will be able to reserve private meet-and-greet sessions where Jackson will record personalized voicemail messages and custom audio greetings in the iconic voice that has haunted audiences for generations.
Adding to the nostalgic celebration, Paramount Scares is recreating Bradley Video, the fictional video rental store featured in the original 1996 film. Built directly on the convention floor, the immersive installation transports visitors back to Woodsboro, complete with a retro video store atmosphere. Staffed by the team from Fangoria, the experience invites fans to browse horror recommendations while enjoying exclusive merchandise, giveaways, and Ghostface-themed photo opportunities inspired by one of the franchise’s most memorable lines: “Do you like scary movies?”
The anniversary programming continues with a series of special presentations celebrating the enduring legacy of the franchise. On Saturday, August 8, Matthew Lillard will host the official Scream 30th Anniversary Panel, featuring special guests, behind-the-scenes stories, and interactive audience participation. On Sunday, August 9, The Sound of Scream will explore one of the series’ most recognizable elements—its unforgettable audio landscape. Composer Marco Beltrami, Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas, Roger L. Jackson, producer Marianne Maddalena, and music supervisor Ed Gerrard will discuss the music, sound design, and vocal performances that helped elevate the films into horror classics.
Collectors will also have the opportunity to purchase an exclusive Midsummer Scream edition of Fangoria magazine, available only during the event. Featuring Ghostface on a commemorative cover, the limited-edition publication includes archival features, retrospective stories celebrating the Scream franchise, and a spotlight on Midsummer Scream’s 2026 lineup of horror icons.
