What Is the Gold Gala and why is it called the Asian Met Gala?

In just a few short years, the Gold Gala has become one of the most influential and talked-about cultural events in Hollywood.

Often described as the “Asian Met Gala,” the annual gathering took place this past weekend.

This year’s event marked the fifth annual Gold Gala  at The Music Center in Downtown Los Angeles. What started as a community-focused celebration has now become a global platform bringing together more than 650 influential leaders and changemakers.

Hosted by Gold House, the Gold Gala is more than a red carpet event. It has evolved into a cultural summit and celebration that highlights the growing influence of Asian Pacific leaders across entertainment, business, fashion, sports, technology, and philanthropy.

The gala’s 2026 theme, “A New Gold World,” reflected the organization’s broader mission: building unity, opportunity, and cultural power at a time when conversations around identity and inclusion continue to evolve worldwide.

One reason the event has become such a magnet for stars is because it represents something many in Hollywood long felt was missing — a major industry event centered around Asian Pacific achievement without stereotypes or limitations. The guest list now regularly includes some of the biggest names in global entertainment.

This year’s honorees included Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jet Li, Charles Melton, Simu Liu, Eileen Gu, and Revathi Advaithi.

The night also featured appearances and performances from major names including Bowen Yang, Hayley Kiyoko, Chrissy Teigen, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, H.E.R., Candace Parker, Poorna Jagannathan, and many more.

Part of the gala’s appeal is its ability to bridge industries. It is one of the rare events where Hollywood actors mingle alongside Fortune 500 executives, Olympic athletes, venture capitalists, fashion innovators, and emerging creators. That cross-industry networking has helped make the gala one of the most important relationship-building events for Asian Pacific leaders in America and beyond.

The organization behind it all, Gold House, was founded to elevate Asian Pacific creatives and entrepreneurs by investing in projects, creating opportunities, and amplifying voices often overlooked by mainstream institutions.

Over the years, Gold House has become a major force behind campaigns supporting films, television shows, founders, and creators across industries.
