Mayor Bass Cite Productive Meeting with President Trump on Disaster Recovery Efforts

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger announced that they met with President Donald Trump and members of his administration to address recovery efforts for families impacted by recent disasters.

In a joint statement issued following the meeting, the officials described the discussion as constructive, with a focus on federal assistance and financial relief measures.

“This afternoon we met with President Trump and Administration officials to advocate for families who lost everything. We had a very positive discussion about FEMA and other rebuilding funds as well as the support of the President to continue joining us in pressuring the insurance companies to pay what they owe – and for the big banks to step up to ease the financial pressure on L.A. families.

Our job is to fight for our communities. When it comes to this recovery, our federal partners are essential, and we are grateful for the support of the President.”

The statement underscores ongoing coordination between local and federal officials as Los Angeles continues recovery and rebuilding efforts. Topics discussed included access to federal emergency funding through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), as well as broader financial challenges facing affected residents.

City and county leaders have emphasized the importance of federal partnerships in accelerating recovery timelines, while also calling on private sector institutions to provide additional support to impacted families.
