COUNTDOWN NYE Heads Indoors in Downtown LA

If you’re still deciding how to ring in the New Year, COUNTDOWN NYE is officially bringing the party to Downtown Los Angeles this year, taking over the Los Angeles Convention Center. After years at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, the massive New Year’s Eve celebration is moving indoors—meaning no weather worries, no battling the cold, and no interruptions to the energy on the dance floor. Rain or chill won’t factor into the experience this time around.

With four stages and a lineup built for movement, I spent time previewing the artists to get a real sense of how the night will unfold sonically. These are the sets I’m most excited to experience as the energy builds toward midnight and carries through the early morning hours. At the Nebula stage, Sub Focus brings precision-driven drum and bass—fast, euphoric, and immersive, the kind of set that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. Over on the Mothership stage, Crankdat delivers aggressive bass and festival-scale drops, designed for big reactions and nonstop momentum. The Twilight Zone stage shifts the mood with Southstar, whose melodic, groove-heavy sound feels perfectly tuned for that late-night, lost-in-the-crowd moment. And at the Beatbox stage, Techno Tupac taps into raw, underground techno—hypnotic, driving, and built for dancers who plan to stay until sunrise.

All of it unfolds over a full night of music. Running from 7:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m., COUNTDOWN NYE offers plenty of room to settle in, whether you’re arriving early to catch every set or stepping in later to ride the wave through midnight and beyond.

As a California native and Los Angeles resident, a word of advice: plan ahead. Downtown streets will be busy, some closures are expected, and parking will likely be limited and costly. Rideshare services or public transportation are highly recommended to make the night smoother and stress-free—leaving you more time to focus on the countdown itself.
