In 1997, she and her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, created the HollyRod Foundation in honor of her father, Matthew T. Robinson Jr.—the original Gordon on Sesame Street—who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at just 45.
His courage ignited Holly’s mission to bring compassion and advocacy to families facing the disease.
That mission became even more personal when their son RJ was diagnosed with autism at the age of three.
Holly pledged to change the world not only for her son, but for countless others.
Today, the HollyRod Foundation stands as a lifeline—expanding access and empowering families nationwide.
Through programs that provide compassionate care for Parkinson’s patients, to initiatives like RJ’s Place, offering resources, therapies, and safe spaces for children with autism, HollyRod has become a bridge for families who might otherwise feel forgotten.
The foundation advocates for inclusion in schools and workplaces, helps navigate critical services, and brings together communities where support and understanding flourish. What began as one family’s journey has grown into a national movement.
