The Southampton Playhouse revved up its IMAX projector and took audiences back to 1985 on Sunday, August 10, for a special 40th anniversary screening of Back to the Future. The event featured a post-screening conversation with none other than Marty McFly himself, Michael J. Fox.
Following the film, Fox joined Southampton Playhouse Artistic Director Eric Kohn on stage for an engaging discussion. The conversation touched not only on behind-the-scenes memories from the beloved sci-fi classic, but also on the impactful work of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which has raised $2 billion to date in support of Parkinson’s research and awareness. The heartfelt dialogue concluded with a standing ovation from the audience.
The screening was part of the Playhouse’s 80’s Blockbuster Essentials series, which continues with The Terminator featuring producer Gale Anne Hurd, and an IMAX screening of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.
In attendance were Jack Heller (Principal, Assemble Media and Chairman of the Board, Southampton Playhouse), Maria Ruiz Botsacos (Executive Director, Southampton Playhouse), and Fox, with photography by Sonia Moskowitz Gordon.
