E! News Ends After 34 Years on Air

First late night and now this…

After more than three decades as one of the most recognized entertainment news programs in television history, E! News is coming to an end. The long-running show will officially conclude its broadcast run in September 2025, with its final episode scheduled to air on September 25.

Launched in 1991, E! News became a staple of pop culture coverage, known for delivering celebrity interviews, red carpet coverage, Hollywood gossip, and entertainment industry headlines. Over the years, the show featured a rotating lineup of high-profile hosts and correspondents, becoming synonymous with E! Network’s brand identity.

The decision to cancel the program comes as part of a broader corporate restructuring at NBCUniversal, which recently divided its portfolio into two entities: NBCU and a newly formed group called Versant. E! now falls under the Versant umbrella, alongside other networks like USA, Syfy, and digital platforms such as Rotten Tomatoes and Fandango. The reorganization is part of a larger strategic shift that prioritizes streaming, digital engagement, and short-form content over traditional linear television programming.

While the television broadcast will end, the E! News brand itself will not disappear. The network has seen substantial growth in its digital presence, including a 49% rise in video engagement on Instagram and a 52% increase in viewership on TikTok. With more than 87 million followers across digital platforms, E! News will continue to operate online, focusing on social-first content and adapting to changing viewer habits.

Some correspondents and staff from the broadcast version may remain with the brand or transition into roles within the Versant group, though details have yet to be finalized.

The cancellation of E! News marks the end of an era in entertainment journalism, reflecting the ongoing evolution of how audiences consume celebrity and lifestyle news in the age of digital media.
