Juneteenth 2025: Celebrations and Events in Los Angeles

On June 19, 2025, Los Angeles will come alive with celebrations honoring Juneteenth, the day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. From parades and panels to film screenings and family festivals, the city offers a rich variety of events that celebrate Black culture, history, and resilience.

Below is a guide to some of the most notable Juneteenth events happening across the greater LA area.


Leimert Park Village Freedom Celebrations

Freedom Day Ride

  • Time: 8:00 AM

  • Location: Starts at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza

  • A celebratory community bike ride through historic neighborhoods ending in Leimert Park, symbolizing the journey to freedom.

Leimert Park Street Festival

  • All Day

  • Location: Leimert Park Village

  • A vibrant day-long celebration featuring live music, drum circles, food vendors, art installations, local Black-owned businesses, and community performances.


Opal’s Walk for Freedom – Pacoima

  • Time: Registration begins at 6:00 AM; Walk starts at 7:00 AM

  • Location: From Hillery T. Broadous Elementary to Pacoima City Hall

  • Inspired by Opal Lee’s annual walk, this 2.5-mile journey symbolizes the delay between the Emancipation Proclamation and actual freedom for enslaved people in Texas.


California African American Museum (CAAM)

Exhibit and Panel: Repossessions & Reparations

  • Time: Throughout the day (panel times to be announced)

  • Location: 600 State Drive, Exposition Park

  • A special art exhibition and reparations-themed discussion featuring leading voices in advocacy and visual arts.


The Autry Museum

Rodeo Rising: Celebrating Black Women Athletes

  • Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Location: 4700 Western Heritage Way, Griffith Park

  • A screening, panel discussion, and exhibition dedicated to highlighting Black women’s contributions to the history of rodeo and equestrian culture.


Rooftop Cinema Club – Downtown LA

Juneteenth Film Screenings

  • Time:

    • 7:35 PM: Love Jones

    • 10:40 PM: Love & Basketball

  • Location: LEVEL, 888 S. Olive St., Downtown LA

  • Two iconic films by Black filmmakers will be shown under the stars in celebration of Black love and creativity.


Pies for Justice Fundraiser

  • Dates: June 19–22

  • Locations: Partner restaurants throughout Los Angeles

  • Purchase sweet and savory pies made by renowned chefs, with proceeds benefiting Peace 4 Kids and ACLU SoCal.


Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB)

Juneteenth Improv Extravaganza

  • Time: Evening (exact time TBA)

  • Location: 5919 Franklin Ave, Hollywood

  • Four Black-led improv teams perform a dynamic night of comedy and storytelling.


Black in Mayberry Art Show – Venice

  • Opening Reception: June 19

  • Location: 910 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice

  • A community celebration and art exhibition exploring Black identity and expression, open through June 28.


Juneteenth Ceremony – Manhattan Beach

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

  • Location: Bruce’s Beach Park

  • An official city ceremony with local leaders, poetry, and remembrance at a historically significant site.


Aquarium of the Pacific – Long Beach

Juneteenth Cultural Program

  • Time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

  • Location: 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach

  • Features storytelling, music, and community education within the general admission experience.


Harbor House Rooftop Juneteenth Party

  • Time: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM

  • Location: 1000 Wilshire Blvd, Downtown LA

  • A celebration of Black joy with cocktails, DJs, and a rooftop sunset backdrop.


Black Rocks LA – Rock Climbing and Culture

  • Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Location: Hollywood Boulders, 1107 N Bronson Ave

  • Climbing, music, Jamaican food, and a community vendor village come together for an active and inclusive celebration.


Black Professionals Network (BPN) Mixer

  • Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Location: Offhand Wine Bar, 3008 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica

  • A networking mixer with wine, music, and a guest speaker; attire is “wear all black.”


No Fuks Given Comedy Jam

  • Time: 9:30 PM – 12:30 AM

  • Location: Laugh Factory, 8001 W Sunset Blvd, Hollywood

  • A powerhouse lineup of Black comedians including Craig Robinson and Godfrey, with live music to close out the day.
