Jaws: The Exhibition Hits the Academy Museum This Fall

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the museum… the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is diving headfirst into Jaws. Kicking off September 14, 2025, Jaws: The Exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s 1975 thriller with the museum’s biggest movie-specific showcase ever.

Running through July 26, 2026, the multi-gallery deep dive transforms Spielberg’s masterpiece into an immersive experience. Expect 200+ original objects—many never before seen—sourced from Spielberg’s personal archives, Amblin, Universal Pictures, and the Academy’s own collection. From iconic props to interactive recreations (yes, you can operate Bruce the shark), it’s a must-see for diehard fans and new audiences alike.

Each gallery follows the film’s story—from Chrissie’s infamous midnight swim to the climactic shark showdown. You’ll stroll through Amity Island, watch Brody’s world flip with a dolly zoom, and step aboard a recreated Orca decked out with Quint’s original “fighting chair.”

Opening night will feature a special Jaws screening and exclusive merch drop, including a limited 50th anniversary vinyl of John Williams’ Oscar-winning score, posters, apparel, and more.

Curated by Jenny He, Emily Rauber Rodriguez, and Alexandra James Salichs, this tribute brings the thrill, craft, and cultural legacy of Jaws to the surface. It’s a bite of movie history you won’t want to miss.

Jaws: The Exhibition is supported by Howard and Mirjam Berger, the Givenchy Family, Emma Koss, The Yeardley Smith Foundation, and Richard Talley.
