This Memorial Day weekend, Wahl® is proving that a little facial hair can make a big difference.
In partnership with Smile 4 Kam, a South Central Los Angeles-based charity focused on empowering underserved youth, Wahl® will bring its 20-foot Mobile Barbershop to Fiesta Hermosa from Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26, 2025. For every free beard trim performed, Wahl® will donate $100 to the nonprofit—which offers mentorship, college scholarships, financial literacy, and job coaching to kids affected by loss and systemic inequity.
At the heart of this initiative is Jaime Shepherd, a Los Angeles native and finalist in last year’s Wahl® Benevolent Beards Contest. Shepherd founded Smile 4 Kam to honor his nephew, Kamryn B Stone, whose life was tragically cut short at age 18 due to gun violence. Through his mission, Shepherd continues to turn grief into growth for the next generation.
The event is part of Wahl’s nationwide campaign to support bearded changemakers across the country. As the Wahl Mobile Barbershop makes its rounds, it’s also scouting for the next ‘Wahl Man of the Year.’ The winner of this year’s Wahl® Benevolent Beards Contest will receive $5,000 for themselves and a generous $20,000 for the charity of their choice.
