Garmin Launches Two New Watches for Weekend Warriors

Garmin has introduced two new models in its Forerunner series: the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970.

Both models feature AMOLED displays, a built-in speaker and microphone, Garmin Triathlon Coach training plans, an evening report, and a range of health, wellness, and connectivity tools.

The Forerunner 970 adds a built-in LED flashlight and new performance metrics, including running tolerance, running economy, and step speed loss, developed with input from Garmin data scientists and sports physiologists. Battery life varies by model: the Forerunner 570 provides up to 11 days in smartwatch mode, and the Forerunner 970 offers up to 15 days.

Designed with a 5-button interface, the watches include wrist-based running power, running dynamics, daily adaptive workouts, and training readiness scores based on recovery, sleep, and activity. Users can access Garmin Triathlon Coach’s training plans, build multisport workouts, and use race-prep tools such as auto lap by timing gates, suggested finish line, and a projected race time predictor.

Garmin Connect includes features such as sleep tracking, weather updates, menstrual and ovulation tracking, skin temperature monitoring, and breathing analysis using Pulse Ox. The built-in speaker and microphone support call handling, voice commands, and text replies.

The Forerunner 570 is priced starting at $549.99 and is available in two sizes and multiple color options. The Forerunner 970, priced at $749.99, includes a sapphire lens, titanium bezel, full-color onboard maps, an LED flashlight, and additional performance metrics such as ECG tracking (with HRM 600). Both models will be available on Garmin.com starting May 21.
