Independent Shakespeare Co. (ISC) returns to Griffith Park this summer with its 22nd season of Free Shakespeare in the Park, running June 25 through August 31. This beloved Los Angeles tradition welcomes audiences back to the Dell at the top of the Old Zoo for ten weeks of theater under the stars—featuring two vibrant productions: Love’s Labour’s Lost by William Shakespeare and Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe.
The summer begins with Love’s Labour’s Lost, a witty, romantic, and bittersweet comedy running June 25–July 27. Directed by ISC Managing Director David Melville, the play promises sharp humor and lush storytelling, set in a world reminiscent of Bridgerton. Later in the season, from August 6–31, Doctor Faustus takes center stage. Directed by ISC Artistic Director Melissa Chalsma, this supernatural thriller explores ambition and consequence in a visually striking production, staged as the summer light fades into twilight.
This year’s performances will take place at the Dell, a serene and intimate space located just steps from the soon-to-be-completed Griffith Park Performing Arts Stage. Ground was officially broken on the permanent stage in April, and it is scheduled to open in time for the 2026 season.
In addition to the mainstage productions, ISC will host a variety of pre-show events and family-friendly activities, including education workshops, drag story hour, themed dress-up nights, art-making projects, community discussions, and a summer-long donation drive in partnership with SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition.

-
Pride Night on June 29 with Drag Story Hour featuring Pickle, West Hollywood’s first Drag Laureate.
-
Players in the Park family workshops on July 19 and August 10.
