And just like that… the Los Angeles Marathon announced their new date after the Academy Awards kept the original same-date March 15th, 2026 and LAM agreed to change their race day.
The McCourt Foundation today announced a date change for the 2026 ASICS Los Angeles Marathon.
The 41st annual race will now be held one week earlier than initially planned, taking place on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
This adjustment was made to avoid a scheduling conflict with the Academy Awards, also planned to occur on the marathon’s original date of March 15. The Dolby Theatre, the venue for the Oscars, is located at the 12-mile mark of the marathon route, prompting organizers of both prominent events to collaborate on a solution to minimize logistical challenges within the city.
“If you’re planning to run the 2026 ASICS Los Angeles Marathon, circle Sunday, March 8 on your calendar,” said Race Director Stacy Embertson. “We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding as we make this change. Our team is doing everything possible to make the transition smooth, and we can’t wait to celebrate 41 years running with our community in 2026.”
In conjunction with the marathon date shift, the LA Charity Half Marathon will also be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The Big 5 Sporting Goods LA 5K and the LA Kids Run presented by Circle K will now take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
The marathon weekend festivities will commence with the two-day Health & Fitness Expo at Dodger Stadium, beginning on Friday, March 6, 2026.
