Every Tuesday through Saturday for almost 40 years, Angelenos could find the famous jazz duo, Marty & Elayne performing at The Dresden in Los Feliz. One half of the legendary duo, Marty Roberts has passed away. The couple's daughter posted on Facebook Tuesday that Marty died on the 13th of January from an undisclosed illness.
"My mom and I are devastated by his loss and there is nobody that could ever take his place. He had a joke and a smile (smiling is free, he would say!) for everyone he met and was the kindest, most self sacrificing man in the world. We will miss him more than words can express," their daughter said in a post.
The Dresden location, made famous by the film "Swingers," became Marty and Elayne's home venue for four decades.
In a Facebook statement, the duo's page said:
