The L.A. Clippers have traded forward Sam Dekker, the draft rights to Renaldas Seibutis and cash considerations to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for the draft rights to Vladimir Veremeenko, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank. As a result of this transaction, the Clippers will create a trade exception.
“We want to thank Sam for his contributions to our team competitiveness and culture this past season,” Frank said. “Sam is a talented and hard-working athlete who represented this organization well as a player and a person. We wish him the best of luck with his opportunity in Cleveland.”
Dekker, 24, appeared in 73 games for the Clippers last season, averaging 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 49.4 percent from the field in 12.1 minutes. The 6’9”, 230-pound forward holds career averages of 5.3 points and 3.0 rebounds across three NBA seasons with L.A. and the Houston Rockets. A native of Sheboygan, WI, he played three collegiate seasons at the University of Wisconsin before being selected 18th overall by Houston in the 2015 NBA Draft.
