Governor de Neve recorded the date, September 4, 1781, as the official date of establishment of Los Angeles.
According to the LA Times, thousands are expected to flock to downtown Los Angeles on Saturday (September 5th) afternoon to celebrate the city’s 234th birthday, with a special service scheduled at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles, organizers said.
