Not only is it National Hot Dog Month for one more day… but Thursday July 31st is National Chili Dog Day! Here in Los Angeles, Pink’s Hot Dog stand on La Brea Ave and Melrose is one of the most famous dog joints in the world! It doesn’t matter if it’s 10AM or 10PM, there is always a line around the corner.
Pink’s started with Paul & Betty Pink selling hot dogs from a cart on a neighborhood street corner at La Brea & Melrose in 1939. Then the city fell in love with the tasty chili dogs and friendly service, and 75 years later, Pink’s has become a Hollywood landmark and internationally famous, now operated by Paul & Betty’s family — Richard, Gloria, and Beverly. The Pink family have expanded to ten locations including Southern California, Las Vegas, and Ohio.
