Hot Off The Press: The Rock Hits HBO & Other New Series

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be flexing his muscles on the small screen at HBO, with a series pick up for the half-hour show Ballers. Johnson and Mark Wahlberg are producing from a pilot script written by Wahlberg’s manager Steve Levinson, that follows a set of current of former football players.

After the demise of the short-lived, but critically appreciated Awake, Jason Isaacs is once again lending his talents to television for a brief stint, though this time on purpose. Isaacs will star in the USA event series Dig, about an FBI agent investigating an archeologist’s murder in Jerusalem, who uncovers a 2000-year-old conspiracy. The drama is set to run for six episodes.

With seven years at 30 Rock behind her, Jane Krakowski has found a new home… in prison. Krakowski has signed on to star in the Fox half-hour comedy about a woman trying to prove her innocence after wrongfully being sent to prison for murder in Dead Boss.

When How I Met Your Mother ends this season, one of its stars will be concentrating on spending More Time With Family – at least, that’s the name of Alyson Hannigan’s new show. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are producing the comedy, where Hannigan will play the wife of Tom Papa, who changes careers in order to be more of a family man.
