Hot Off The Press: “Tarzan” Goes 3D, Jack Black Hits HBO & More

Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood)and Margot Robbie (The Wolf Of Wall Street) are set to hit the jungle in Warner Bros.’ 3-D adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic character Tarzan. The movie is slated to open on July 1, 2016 and is being helmed by David Yates, who is best known for directing four of the Harry Potter films.

HBO is back with Black after picking up a full series order of the comedy pilot The Brink, starring Jack Black. This is a return for Black to the premium cable network, which first aired his show Tenacious D back in 1997. Tim Robbins will join Blackin the dark comedy about the effect of a geopolitical crisis on three men. Jay Roach, whose films include Meet The Parents and acclaimed HBO films Recount and Game Change, will direct the show.

The BBC comedy Cuckoo will be adding a Twilight star to its cast for their second season. Taylor Lautner will play a mysterious stranger in town in the culture clash comedy, taking the starring reigns from Andy Samberg, whose titular character disappeared into the Himalayas. Samberg can currently be seen on the Fox show Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
