The Super Bowl isn’t the only famous American tradition occurring today. It’s Groundhog Day! No, not the popular Bill Murray film – but the groundhog prediction is the same as in the movie. Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow on Sunday and predicted six more weeks of winter.
Every February 2nd at Gobblers Knob in the western Pennsylvania town of Punxsutawney, the groundhog predicts the weather. Well, he saw see his shadow and that means six more weeks of snow and freezing temperatures.
If weather continues to be as bad as it has been for the East Coast and other parts of the country, six more weeks of winter could mean more snow, ice and chilling temps.
