Jay Leno says farewell to hosting “The Tonight Show” on Thursday evening on NBC at 11:35 p.m.-12:35 a.m. ET. It has been a 22 year long journey for Leno, who took over for Johnny Carson in 1992. In 2009, Leno left for “The Jay Leno Show” until it was canceled in 2010.
He returned to his “Tonight Show” roots in March of that year. His talk show days really began in 1977 when Leno made his first appearance with Johnny Carson. Leno performed regular stand-up comedy routines.
Now he hands over the reigns to Jimmy Fallon, who will begin on February 17th, 2014. Leno’s final guests will include Billy Crystal and Garth Brooks.
