“Obvious Child” Heads To Berlin For European Film Market

Sundance flick, “Obvious Child” is going full steam ahead in festival sales. Brian O’Shea, CEO of The Exchange, announced today the acquisition of international sales rights to the groundbreaking Sundance hit, OBVIOUS CHILD. The Exchange will begin selling the title to international buyers at the upcoming European Film Market’14 in Berlin.

A24 picked up the North American rights to the film in Sundance’14 and plans a theatrical release in 2014.

OBVIOUS CHILD is written and directed by first-time feature director Gillian Robespierre. It stars Jenny Slate (SNL, Parks and Recreation) as a Brooklyn comedian who gets dumped, fired and pregnant just in time for Valentine’s Day. Forever nudged by her parents to make better choices, Donna does exactly that when a one-night stand leads to a difficult decision. Though sure of her choice, Donna must gain the confidence to believe in her talent, herself, and in those around her, especially one surprisingly decent guy who just might make this the most memorable Valentine’s Day of her life.

The film also stars Jake Lacy (The Office), David Cross (Arrested Development) and Gaby Hoffmann (CRYSTAL FAIRY). The film was produced by Elisabeth Holm and executive produced by Rooks Nest Entertainment, Sundial Pictures, Votiv Films, Slate, Robespierre, and David Kaplan.

“Charming, winning and commercial, this Sundance breakout is sure to be a hit for international audiences” said O’Shea.

The Exchange premiered YOUNG ONES at the Sundance Film Festival’14 in Park City, UT.
