The nominations for the 2014 Oscars have been announced and two films are leading the way as this year’s favorites. “American Hustle” and “Gravity” were nominated for 10 Oscars with “12 Years a Slave” at nine nominations. Alexander Payne’s “Nebraska” saw six nods, along with “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Captain Phillips.” With a good amount of public criticism and even film critic bashing of “American Hustle,” we’ll see reactions soon enough on social media. And, despite all of the upset over “The Wolf of Wall Street‘s“ vulgar content, the academy of course showed Martin Scorsese the respect he deserves. On a snubbing note, Robert Redford (All Is Lost), Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks) and Tom Hanks, who gave an unbelievable performance in “Captain Phillips” did not see any nominations.
