The 125th Tournament of Roses parade took over Pasadena on New Year’s Day, kicking off with a precision flyby of six military jets.
There were 45 floats filled with colorful floral designs and themes, from Shriners Children’s Hospital to Macy’s. The Governor’s Award for best depiction of life in California went to “Let’s Be Neighbors,” a highly-animated effort from the City of Glendale. And the Sweepstakes Award for the most-beautiful entry went to Dole, for its “Sunrise At The Oasis.”
The City of Downey won the Founders’ Award, for the most-beautiful float built and decorated by volunteers, for its float, “The Glass Slipper.”
As for the 96th Rose Queen, Ana Marie Acosta was given the crown for 2014. Rose Queen Ana and the six Rose Princesses will make over 100 community and media appearances, culminating today with the 125th Rose Parade® presented by Honda and the 100th Rose Bowl Game® presented by VIZIO.
