There are a handful of biopics in the works. The biggest question is always – who will play the leading star? With the Elton John biopic, “Rocketman,” Focus Features has finally announced their man – Tom Hardy. This is quite the switch from his role of Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises” and Tuck in the romcom “This Means War.”
“Tom is a stellar talent who will add extraordinary depth and nuance in bringing Elton’s story to life,” Rocket Pictures’ Steve Hamilton Shaw says in a press release tracked down by Screen International. “We are excited to have such a gifted actor on board, and equally excited to be in the hands of Peter Schlessel and the entire Focus Features team.”
Lee Hall will write the script and Michael Gracey will direct.
