Met Ball 2013 Was Punk: Chaos To Couture

Every year the biggest stars come out for the famous and glamorous Met Gala, an annual ball hosted by Vogue that celebrates the opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s (The Met) fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute.

Last night the red carpet was filled with celebrities and fashion industry experts. The theme this year was Punk: Chaos To Couture

As reported by Vogue UK’s fashion editor Lucy Hutchings, safety pins and studs were peppered onto dresses and accessories, while little leather jackets embellished with a smattering of spikes made for great on-theme cover-ups.

Madonna and Sarah Jessica Parker both arrived with their underwear on show – Madonna’s Givenchy jacket barely covering her ripped lace body stocking, and SJP’s thigh-high velvet tartan boots coming as a surprise beneath her beautiful Giles gown.

Even the evening’s hair and make-up featured a predominance of punk touches – Anne Hathaway showed off new hair shades to cover a spectrum of bright white and platinum blonde.
