Mexican-American Singing Sensation, Jenni Rivera Dies In Plane Crash

At just 43 years-old, the Latina music sensation, Jenni Rivera has died. Rumors were circulating earlier today that Rivera’s private plane had crashed. Jorge Domene, spokesman for Nuevo Leon’s government, said the plane left Monterrey about 3:30 a.m. after Rivera gave a concert. Ten minutes later, aviation authorities lost contact with the craft. The plane was found in northern Mexico on Sunday and there are no apparent survivors, authorities said.

Rivera has sold over 15 million albums worldwide and was nominated for numerous Latin Grammys. She began recording in 1992 and was best known for her nortena- and banda-style. In 2008, her album ‘Jenni’ became number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in the US. She was the first Banda artist to sell-out a concert at the Gibson Ampitheater and sold out two back to back nights at the Nokia Theatre. In addition to being a singer, Rivera was an entrepeneur with cosmetics, fragrance and fashion companies, as well as The Jenni Rivera Love Foundation.

Our hearts go out to Rivera’s friends, family and devoted fans.
