The Palisades Will Rogers Fourth of July 5K/10K Run, presented by Providence Saint John’s Health Center, has announced its return to the Pacific Palisades for its 49th annual event on July 4.
The community-centric event comes home to its original location and route after relocating to the Venice Beach boardwalk in 2025 due to the impacts of the Palisades Fire. The event is an opportunity for runners and walkers of all experience levels to come together to support the Palisades community while celebrating the USA’s 250th anniversary. Registration is currently open for those interested in taking part in the event.
“We’re proud to be returning our historic race to its home in the Pacific Palisades this Fourth of July,” said Thomas Hathaway, Chief Financial Officer and lead organizer of the Will Rogers-Pacific Palisades Foundation. “In an effort to help rebuild the community that has supported us for decades, we are donating a portion of race proceeds raised by the race’s organizing Foundation, a 501c3, to local charities. The race has raised over $200,000 toward the rebuilding of the burned Palisades Recreation Park, the reconstruction of which is set to commence this Summer.”
As the region continues to rebuild, the Palisades is seeing a return of local events like the Palisades Will Rogers Fourth of July 5K/10K Run. The race is a part of the major Fourth of July celebration that takes place in the Palisades, and, with its return to its original route, it hopes to contribute to bringing back the strong and lively community spirit that the neighborhood is known for.
The Palisades Will Rogers Fourth of July 5K/10K Run offers four distances, a 10K run, 5K run/walk, the Dick Lemon Run – a high school competition 5K and a half-mile Kids Fun Run. The famous 10K route takes runners along a route with views of the ocean in the distance, switchbacks through the backroads of Will Rogers State Park, and concludes at the iconic finish line where many elite runners and Olympians have finished.
Beyond participating in the event, there are ways to support the Pacific Palisades, which has suffered devastating destruction to its neighborhood and community. The Will Rogers 5 & 10K Run Foundation is accepting donations that will go directly to eligible organizations assisting in the recovery and aid the annual efforts of the Foundation in support of community charities. A donation page can be found on the event’s RunSignUp page.
The event is owned and managed by the Palisades-Will Rogers 5&10K Run Foundation. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the legacy of Will Rogers through interpretive activities and fundraising to assist in the ongoing restoration, rehabilitation and preservation of Will Rogers State Historic Park.
