Academy Museum Reveals Star Filled Summer Program

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has unveiled an exciting lineup of film series, public programs, and education initiatives for the summer season, offering movie lovers an expansive celebration of cinema history, legendary filmmakers, and beloved classics.

Among the highlights is the Summer of Thrills screening series, which will feature Michael Mann’s Manhunter: The Final Cut (2026) with filmmaker Michael Mann. The museum will also present Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon, a screening series showcasing 17 feature length films starring Marilyn Monroe.

The museum’s seasonal programming continues with Fútbol Free Day at the Academy Museum, a free community event featuring screenings of Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Shaolin Soccer (2001), and Offside (2006) in 35mm.

Additional special events include a 50th anniversary screening of Car Wash (1976) with filmmaker Michael Schultz alongside actors Bill Duke, Antonio Fargas, Henry Kingi, Melanie Mayron, Garrett Morris, and Pepe Serna.

Film enthusiasts can also look forward to Guillermo del Toro Dissects Hitchcock, a five night lecture series centered on the unique genres explored throughout Alfred Hitchcock’s five decade career, led by acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.

The museum will also host A Weekend with Guy Maddin, featuring conversations with the celebrated director Guy Maddin and screenings of his films, as well as A Weekend with Robert Rodriguez, featuring a 25th anniversary screening of Spy Kids (2001) and a 30th anniversary screening of From Dusk Til Dawn (1996). Both screenings will include live performances from filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and his bands, Chingon and the Rodriguez Family Spy Band.

Rounding out the summer lineup is the Presented in VistaVision screening series, showcasing ultra rare VistaVision prints of films including White Christmas (1954) and The Ten Commandments (1956), alongside 70mm remasters and new DCPs created from 6K digital scans of both classic favorites and lesser known gems.

Tickets for film screenings and public programs are sold separately and do not require general admission to the museum. All tickets are available through advance online reservations via the Academy Museum’s website.

The Seven Year Itch

Film screening tickets are priced at $10 for adults, $7 for seniors ages 62 and older, $5 for students, $5 for children ages 17 and younger, and $8 for museum members. Admission to daytime film screenings is $5.

Museum members receive complimentary general admission for unlimited visits and priority admission. Visitors can also learn more about membership benefits, including a 10% discount at the Academy Museum Store and exclusive members only advance film screenings, by visiting the museum’s website.
