Alison Sweeney To Receive Humane Award from Helen Woodward Animal Center

Helen Woodward Animal Center will present its 2026 Humane Award to Alison Sweeney on Saturday, May 2, during a private, invitation-only gathering hosted at the home of a longtime Center supporter.

The annual honor recognizes individuals who have made a meaningful and lasting impact on animal welfare. Sweeney, widely known for her long-running role as Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives, has built a multifaceted career spanning television, film, and producing. In addition to her acting work, she hosted The Biggest Loser for 13 seasons and has appeared in more than 30 films for Hallmark, including the Hannah Swensen Mystery franchise, where she also serves as an executive producer and occasional writer.

Beyond her work in entertainment, Sweeney has remained actively engaged in animal advocacy. She has used her platform to promote responsible pet ownership, adoption, and the broader mission of animal welfare organizations. Her involvement includes serving as an ambassador for American Humane and supporting initiatives that connect pets with permanent homes.

Her relationship with Helen Woodward Animal Center grew through participation in the Center’s Remember Me Thursday campaign, an annual global effort held each September to raise awareness for orphaned pets awaiting adoption. As a campaign ambassador, Sweeney has contributed to outreach efforts aimed at encouraging adoption and increasing visibility for shelter animals.

The Humane Award is presented each year by the Center’s President and CEO, Mike Arms, to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improving the lives of animals. Past recipients include figures from entertainment, public service, and advocacy, reflecting a broad commitment to advancing animal welfare causes.

In a statement, Arms noted that Sweeney’s continued support of the Remember Me Thursday campaign, along with her broader advocacy, reflects a dedication to strengthening the bond between people and animals and advancing efforts to find homes for pets in need.

LATF’s Hollywood Beauty Awards have partnered with Helen Woodward Animal Center for the past 9 years as its official animal charity beneficiary.
