The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired guard/forward Luke Kennard from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guard Gabe Vincent and a future second round pick.
Kennard (6’5”, 206) is a career 44.2 percent shooter from 3-point range and is currently averaging 7.9 points on 53.7 percent from the field, 49.7 percent from beyond the arc and 91.4 percent from the free-throw line while adding 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 20.5 minutes across 46 games this season. The 29-year-old is the only player in the NBA this season shooting at least 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range (min. three attempts per game) and 90 percent from the free-throw line. Kennard, who is shooting a career high from long distance this season, has eclipsed 40 percent shooting from 3-point range in each of his last five campaigns.
Across nine NBA seasons, Kennard has appeared in 506 games (121 starts) with the Hawks (2025-26), Memphis Grizzlies (2023-25), LA Clippers (2020-23) and Detroit Pistons (2017-20), averaging 9.6 points on 44.2 percent from 3-point range and 88.3 percent from the foul line while adding 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 23.1 minutes. The Ohio native has appeared in 28 career playoff games with the Grizzlies (2024-25, 2022-23), Clippers (2020-21) and Pistons (2018-19), averaging 7.1 points on 44.0 percent shooting from 3-point range while adding 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 19.2 minutes.
Kennard was selected 12th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft following two seasons at Duke University (2015-17). During his sophomore campaign, he appeared in 37 games (36 starts), averaging 19.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 35.5 minutes, earning him All-ACC First Team honors and Second Team All-American recognition.
Kennard will wear jersey No. 10 for the Purple and Gold.
Vincent, now in his seventh NBA season, appeared in 29 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 4.8 points and 1.3 assists in 19.3 minutes. In 307 career regular season games (86 starts), the 29-year-old has averaged 6.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 20.8 minutes.
