David Lynch fans can now experience a surreal slice of cinema history as the visionary director’s personal chair hits the road. The “Director’s Chair Mystery Tour” kicked off June 12 at Winkie’s Diner in Gardena — the eerie site of one of Mulholland Drive’s most unforgettable scenes.
Presented by Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), the five-day tour leads up to the live auction of “The David Lynch Collection” on June 18 at the Peninsula Beverly Hills. The collection features over 450 personal items from Lynch’s home, including his signature red leather director’s chair, estimated at $5,000–$7,000.
Fans can follow the chair’s journey and uncover new locations via daily livestreams on Julien’s YouTube (8am–12pm PT) and social media clues on Instagram.
The auction will be available live and online, with bids accepted in person, by phone, absentee, and online—including payment via cryptocurrency.
