Motown Legend Smokey Robinson Releases Latest Album, “What The World Needs Now”

Smokey Robinson, the legendary Motown icon, is set to release his latest album, “What the World Needs Now, on April 25, 2025, through Gaither Music Group. This marks his first album since 2023’s “Gasms, showcasing a shift from sensual themes to messages of gratitude, unity, and spiritual reflection.

Described by Robinson as an “inspiration” album, “What the World Needs Now” features a blend of soulful covers and original compositions. The 10-track collection includes renditions of classics like “Lean on Me,” “What a Wonderful World,” “I’ll Take You There,” and “You’ve Got a Friend,” alongside new originals such as “Be Kind to the Growing Mind” and “Food For Thought.”

Two tracks, “Be Thankful for What You’ve Got” and “Lean on Me,” have been released ahead of the album, highlighting Robinson’s signature smooth vocals and heartfelt delivery. The album is produced by Warryn Campbell, known for his work with artists like Mary Mary and Kanye West.

In addition to the album release, Robinson is embarking on the “Legacy Tour” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his 1975 solo album, “A Quiet Storm. The tour includes performances across North America and the UK, featuring a mix of classic hits and new material.

What the World Needs Now will be available on CD and vinyl, with pre-orders currently open through Gaither Music Group.
