Whether it’s phone cabling, internet wiring, security systems, etc., U.S. Tech Nation Corporation is a go-to company in the Los Angeles area for all businesses. As the industry evolves, so does the need for their services.

We sat down with John to talk about his technician skills in infrastructure cabling.

How did you get into this industry? 

I got into this industry through pure luck! One day about 30 years ago, I got to replace a friend who didn’t show up for a temp assignment. I was enamored when I walked into my first telephone room. I picked up the basic skills quickly, and, within a month, my temp assignment turned into a permanent job.

Tell us about when and how you started your company.

In 2012, my company was a subcontractor on a large project. As the lead, I worked closely with the prime contractor’s Project Manager. The PM was impressed with my knowledge and work ethic and encouraged me to start my own business. He believed that my industry knowledge and commitment to quality service would help my business be successful. During our lunch breaks, the PM and I had many conversations about starting my own business. He convinced me to start U.S. Tech Nation Corporation.

What is your specialty?

U.S. Tech Nation Corporation’s specialty is low-voltage infrastructure cabling. We install network, fiber, and voice cabling in new construction and existing structures. Our cable installations are for:

• Data – Computer network systems
• Voice – VoIP phone systems
• Surveillance – Camera and Data Capture (videorecording) systems
• Audio/Visual – Projectors, Public Announcement systems

With the evolution of tech, phone tech, etc. how has your business adapted?

The USTN team trains with associations and vendors to keep up with technological changes. Some of our training leads to certifications that confirm our knowledge and expertise.

What’s in the future for your skill set?

Based on industry projections through 2028, the need for low-voltage cable installations will continue to increase. In addition, new residential, commercial, and industrial construction will require voice and data cabling. And existing systems will require upgraded cabling as technology continues to evolve.

“Country Music’s Party of the Year” will make history this May with its iconic host pairing of Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks. This marks the first time Brooks will take the stage to host an awards show, coming ahead of his Las Vegas residency and off the heels of his world tour, which sold more than 6.3 million tickets, making it the biggest North American tour in history. It’s the second consecutive year that the show will be hosted by Parton, who is one of the world’s most honored and revered artists of all time and follows her recent induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The 58th Academy of Country Music Awards is produced by Dick Clark Productions, with Raj Kapoor, Barry Adelman, and Fonda Anita serving as executive producers and Damon Whiteside serving as executive producer for the Academy of Country Music.

Established in 1966, the Academy of Country Music Awards is the longest-running country music awards show and made history in 2022 as the first major awards ceremony to exclusively livestream, in partnership with Prime Video. This year’s show marks its return to Texas since the landmark 50th ACM Awards, which broke a Guinness World Record in 2015 for being the most-attended awards show with more than 70,000 attendees at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.

The 58th ACM Awards nominees, performers, and presenters for this year’s show will be announced in the coming weeks.

ADVANCE PARKING PURCHASE

New for Summer 2023, patrons now have access to purchase reserved parking in advance for the limited number of parking spots available in Lots A (Blue), B (Yellow),

C (Red) and D (Green) by pre-purchasing passes via the easy-to-use ParkWhiz app. The app will also identify other local parking options when the Hollywood Bowl lots are full. This will make parking for the Hollywood Bowl much easier to navigate by providing real-time location information, helping to cut down on traffic and wait times.

PARK & RIDE

Designed for those living between 8 and 30 miles away from the Hollywood Bowl, the Park & Ride buses provide 14 routes across Los Angeles County, allowing audiences to leave their cars behind. This season, a new line has been added at Willowbrook, located at Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park, East El Segundo Boulevard between Avalon Boulevard and Central Avenue, joining the existing lines at Arcadia, Chatsworth, Culver City, Downey, East LA, El Monte, Lakewood, Pasadena, Rowland Heights, Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks, Torrance and Westwood.

Buses in the Park & Ride program depart at set times, depending on their distance from the Hollywood Bowl, and arrive as early as two hours before the published concert start time, continuing until one hour before the concert begins. They return at the end of the performance.

HOLLYWOOD BOWL SHUTTLE

The Hollywood Bowl Shuttle program serves locations closer to the venue, 0.5 miles to 8 miles away. Two new lines added this season are Burbank Metrolink, at 201 N. Front St., Burbank, and Pacific Design Center (for lease events starting in May and LA Phil weekend events only), in the Blue parking structure at 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood. This makes a total of five shuttle locations, including already the existing LA Zoo, Ovation LA at Hollywood & Highland and Ventura Boulevard shuttle lines.

Hollywood Bowl Shuttle buses start 2.5 hours before the published concert time and run on a continuous loop until the concert begins. Return shuttles start at the end of the performance. Reservations for the shuttle buses are not required and are free with a Metro or Metrolink ticket purchased within 72 hours of travel.

Ticket holders can show their Park & Ride or Shuttle bus ticket to receive 20 percent off purchases at the Hollywood Bowl Plaza Marketplace.

Founded by CEO Michele Elyzabeth, the HBAs recognize talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for film, TV, music, the red carpet and editorial, as well as special honorees.  

2019 HBA Makeup Winner, Yolonda Frederick and 2020 Hairstyling Winner, Cesar Deleon Ramirez presented Fragrance of the Year on March 9th to Ciara and Russell Wilson at the HBA ceremony in Los Angeles. This was Ciara’s return to the HBAs after presenting to Yolonda in 2019. 

Past Fragrance of the Year honorees include: Mugler Angel, Britney Spears for her fragrance empire, Paris Hilton for Gold Rush, Dior for Sauvage presented by Johnny Depp, Estee Lauder’s Luxury Fragrance Collection presented by William Lauder and more.  Other fragrances honored over the years include Amouage (2022 International Beauty Award), Hayari Paris (2023 International Beauty Award), Firmenich (2022 DBA Innovation Award).

Ciara and Russell introduced R&C Fragrance with three duos: Original, followed by Harmony and Intense. With the help of Perfumers, Catherine Selig and Linda Chinery from the House of Takasago, and a partnership with Hampton Beauty, their first fragrance launched in 2020. 

Ciara created the irresistible ‘C’ fragrance to represent the effortlessly sensual and modern woman with top notes of juicy red berries, delicate freesia and fresh pink peppercorn. The middle notes are jasmine, gardenia peony, followed by notes of musk and sandalwood in the base blending with notes of vanilla. 

Russell crafted the ‘R’ fragrance, a scent for the confident man. It opens with notes of bergamot and black tea, blended with aromatic lavender and juicy pear blossom. Middle notes of waterlily lead to a finish of patchouli, musk and vetiver.

It was important for Ciara and Russell to embody their two fragrances in an iconic bottle that was just as beautiful and luxurious as the fragrances inside. The result was the spectacular and innovative interlocking magnetic system which connects the two bottles as a sculptural piece. 

Giving back, a portion of the fragrance proceeds are donated to the couple’s WHY NOT YOU Foundation dedicated to education, children’s health and fighting poverty. 

R&C Fragrance is a full reflection of Ciara and Russell’s partnership and creativity. A creation that will be remembered for years to come.
