The 14th Dalai Lama Celebrates 80th Birthday With Compassion Talks In California

The 14th Dalai Lama kicked off his 80th Birthday celebration with a Global Compassion Summit tour. On Sunday (and continuing through to July 7th), his Holiness participated in various talks, events and panel discussions at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and the Bren Events Center at the UC Irvine Campus organized by Friends of the Dalai Lama in partnership with the Center for Living Peace and University of California, Irvine. 

Guests included comedian George Lopez, MC Hammer, and Randy Jackson. Journalist Ann Curry served as the main speaker.

If you’re in New York, the Dalai Lama will be appearing at the following events:

Teaching and Long Life Offering Ceremony in New York, NY, USA on July 9 and 10: His Holiness will give a teaching on Kamalashila’s The Middle Stages of Meditation (gomrim barpa) at the Javits Center on July 9 organized by the North American Tibetan Associations. On July 10 morning, His Holiness will confer a White Tara long-life empowerment (drolkar tsewang) followed by a long life prayer offering to His Holiness by the North American Tibetan Associations along with participation from the broader American society and the communities from Mongolia, Buryat, Kalmyk & Tuva regions of the Russian Federation, Bhutan and Himalayan regions in India & Nepal.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 80th Birthday Public Gratitude Event in New York, NY, USA on July 10: A public gratitude eventfor His Holiness will be organized at the Javits Center on July 10 afternoon organized by the North American Tibetan Associations along with participation from the broader American society and the communities from Mongolia, Buryat, Kalmyk & Tuva regions of the Russian Federation, Bhutan, and Himalayan regions in India & Nepal.
