Wendy’s Goes From Food To Filmmaking

Bites. Camera. Action! The final installment of Wendy’s first-ever digital short film, “L’Estrella de la Toscana” – The Star of Tuscany, starring the new Tuscan Chicken on Ciabatta sandwich, premiered this week on Wendy’s Facebook Page and YouTube channel.

Wendy’s new Tuscan Chicken on Ciabatta gets “two thumbs up” for its premium ingredients and Italian-inspired flavors, including a fresh-tasting garlic and roasted tomato aioli sauce with chunks of real chopped tomatoes and natural Asiago cheese. A warm, lightly breaded chicken breast is topped with fresh spring mix and hand-sliced tomatoes, all on a toasted ciabatta bun.

To celebrate the sandwich, Wendy’s created a three-part video series that gives homage to dramatic Italian cinema of the 1960s – action packed with a mysterious vixen, a villainous jewel collector and daring detective – starring the Tuscan Chicken on Ciabatta. Throughout April and May, Wendy’s asked consumers to be its screenwriters by submitting captions on social media to subtitle the Italian-dialogue video.

“This short film put the creative writing in the consumers’ hands to invite them to be part of the story, and they delivered!” said Liz Geraghty, Wendy’s Vice President, Brand Marketing. “We sorted through 34,000 submissions to create a hilarious three-part short film that pays tribute to the Italian-inspired ingredients of our new Tuscan Chicken on Ciabatta sandwich.”
